Chicago, IL (June 16, 2008)--Flashpoint Academy will introduce a new two year program this fall for Broadcast Media in addition to its four other digital disciplines--Film, Recording Arts, Visual Effects/Animation and Game Development.
According to Flashpoint, the new curriculum recognizes the convergence of digital entertainment industries that is prevalent in the 21st century. “The digital revolution is about reinventing the art of visual storytelling and Flashpoint's Broadcast Media students will be immersed in the latest forms of HD production, streaming media, podcasting, interactive television, virtual set design, vlogs, RSS feeds, avatars and emergent forms of digital distribution,” according to the school. Students will also work with industry professionals, gaining real world, hands-on experience in all aspects of field production, shooting, editing, directing and more.
"Broadcast Media exemplifies Flashpoint's collaborative, immersive approach to media arts education," stated Paula Froehle, academic dean of Flashpoint Academy. "Truly cross-disciplinary, the Broadcast Media curriculum develops strong communication and collaboration skills while it exposes students to working industry professionals, giving them a well-rounded intensive education that better prepares them for success in this field."
Flashpoint Academy's new recording studios allow students to create programs ranging from news, documentaries, features and entertainment, to live-concert music videos, and experimental production for live, virtual gaming environments. Writing, producing, directing, shooting, editing, graphics, lighting and sound, plus marketing and business strategies, packaging and distribution, audience measurement and feedback.
