High Wycombe, Bucks, UK (October 6, 2006)–Focusrite’s Saffire PRO 26i/o, featuring 8 Focusrite Mic-pres and a total of 26 inputs and 26 outputs, will be shipping worldwide this month, slightly later than was expected due to an extended beta testing period to ensure solid performance. This will be Focusrite’s third interface in the Saffire range–a new breed of firewire interfaces including professional Focusrite pre-amps and intuitive software control. Check out new Focusrite products at Booth #318 at the AES Convention, which begins today in San Francisco’s Moscone Convention Center.
Focusrite Liquid MixThe Saffire Pro 26 i/o fuses 52 channels of I/O (26 In, 26 Out) with highly integrated software to deliver multi-channel interfacing to both the professional recording engineer and the project studio owner alike. The Saffire Pro can also operate in ‘stand alone mode’ as well–this should cause quite a stir in the live arena for engineers in search of high quality, high channel count pre-amps. Housed in a 19″ rack-mount case, Saffire Pro 26i/o is also at home on the desktop with the rack-ears detached. Saffire Pro26 i/o combines eight channels of Focusrite pre-amplification with 8 analog outputs and a total of 18 digital ins and outs (2 SPDIF and 16 ADAT at 48kHz). It also allows for the option to aggregate multiple units for larger recording solutions.
The pre-amps featured in Saffire Pro 26 i/o are a derivative of the Green Series. This pre-amp design upholds the same high bandwidth philosophy while boasting class-leading specifications. In addition, the converters adhere to performance specifications far beyond other similarly priced interfaces. As with the original Saffire, the units can be either bus-powered or powered via an external PSU. The unit has also been designed to take full advantage of the external PSU and to maximize performance when powered in this way.
SaffireControl Pro provides comprehensive custom mix solutions, alongside quick-select ‘tracking’ and ‘playback’ solutions in addition to the float and shrink/expand facilities found in the original SaffireControl software. Within SaffireControl Pro, a fully customizable mix of inputs and outputs can be created for each of the analog outputs. In addition, the front panel of the unit provides 2 independent headphone outputs with volume control, again customizable within SaffireControl Pro. The Saffire Pro 26i/o also comes bundled with the same Compression, reverb, amp modeling and EQ VST/AU plug-ins for use in the mix.
Other features of the Saffire Pro 26i/o include MIDI I/O, high pass filters on every channel, phantom power, and 2 super channels with variable impedance and insert points. Comprehensive custom mix solutions, a huge array of i/o options, high performance converters, the most intuitive control software available, and a host of other processing functions make the Saffire Pro 26 i/o the multi-channel interface of choice for the serious recording engineer.
Focusrite Liquid MixFocusrite also announced recently that the Liquid Mix, 32-channel DSP-powered vintage EQ and Compressor plug-in system with dedicated control surface is now widely available in stores. Based on Dynamic Convolution technology, the Liquid Mix can power 32 classic EQs and 32 vintage compressors simultaneously in the mix. Liquid Mix Mac OSX Version is now shipping worldwide with delivery of the PC version set for early Q4.
Each of Liquid Mix’s 32 channels provides Compressor and EQ emulations selected from a huge pool of high-quality vintage and modern day classics. 40 Compressors and 20 EQs are available straight out of the box, with an expanding library online. Furthermore, a unique hybrid 7-band ‘super EQ’ can be built out of separate classic EQ sections in every one of the 32 channels.
Each channel appears as a separate VST/AU/RTAS effect within the sequencer and will work within all major applications, including Pro Tools. Liquid Mix works with Pro Tools HD and LE via the FXpansion VST to RTAS wrapper which is included with the Liquid Mix at no extra cost. (This requires Pro Tools 7.0. Operation with earlier versions will require the full FXpansion VST to RTAS wrapper software, available online from www.fxpansion.com.)
