Seoul, Korea (October 1, 2004)–Munhwa Broadcasting Corp (MBC) has ordered a Neve 88RS console for TV Studio D in the MBC TV Hall. The console replaces a Neve VR48 in use since 1993 and will be used for music concert and entertainment programmes, live to air and live to tape, including the hit youth show Music Camp.
MBC has been working in public and private broadcast since 1961. Their latest investment in technology is designed to meet the high creative and technical demands of Digital Television and HD broadcast. The Neve 88RS technical specification, outstanding sound quality and surround mixing capabilities make it the best console for the job, according to Mr. Son, vice director of the manufacturer and engineering department. He praised the 88RS as “the ideal analog mixing console, capable of meeting MBC’s requirement for the traditional Neve sound combined with sophisticated surround capabilities.”
Chief audio engineer Mr. Kim has used Neve consoles for a long time. “We have been satisfied with the Neve VRL and the sound of the 88RS is really impressive. Also, the structures for surround are very convenient,” he said. The 60-frame, 56-channel 88RS is fitted with a 5.1 Master Compressor and Dual Joysticks.
MBC spent over a year evaluating various consoles before deciding on the Neve 88RS. System engineer Mr. Min said, “The 88RS is well-suited to TV production, but we are very pleased that AMS Neve responded to some special requirements of MBC’s working environment. Console designer Robin Porter visited us personally and met all our requirements.”
The MBC order follows closely on the order for three Neve 88RS consoles by Korean broadcaster KBS. AMS Neve’s Korean distributor, ANK, is supplying all four consoles.
