After a career producing and managing artists, Meaux purchased International Artists Studios in 1972 and re-named the facility SugarHill Recording Studios, a name which he felt didn't evoke any particular musical genre, thus leaving the enterprise open to all types of production.

During his tenure as the studio owner, he helped shape the careers of many artists in the Gulf Coast, including Barbara Lynn, Freddy Fender, Sir Douglas Quintet and many more.

Chief engineer Andy Bradley says, "Controversy aside, there is no doubt that Huey helped many artists realize successful, chart-topping and lifelong musical careers--and for that he will be stitched into the history of our facilities forever."
