Nashville (June 27, 2005)–Just one week after Karian Studio’s grand opening party, the newest American Idol, Carrie Underwood, spent a weekend at the new “resort studio” near the lake in Gallatin, TN. Underwood plans to record her album this fall and is currently in preparation mode.
Karian owners Ian and Karen D’Souza take a break with Carrie Underwood (center) in Studio A of Karian Studios.
During her weekend at Karian, Nashville songwriters came out in full force to welcome and impress the 22-year old singer. Elite songsmiths gathered for a three day retreat at Karian to get to know Underwood and play her songs. Craig Wiseman, Hilary Lindsey and Rivers Rutherford were just a few of the songwriting A-list that attended.
To live up to its “resort studio” status, Karian offers amenities ranging from spa services to horse-back riding, to sailing on Old Hickory lake in the studio’s yacht. When clients are not indulging in Karian’s creature comforts, they can get down to work at the SSL- and Pro Tools HD 3 Accel-equipped facility. Luxury lodging is available if clients choose to stay over night. Owner Ian D’Souza, a producer/engineer, was able to serve as chief engineer for Underwood’s weekend as he does for many of the sessions that come to Karian.
Sure to become the destination of choice for artists desiring the gated seclusion the property provides, Karian is also committed to accommodating songwriters seeking a retreat. Karian’s amenities are attractive to artists and songwriters alike but perhaps the most truly impressive thing about the studio is their price point. Mike “Frog” Griffith, who is production coordinator for Dann Huff, Mark Bright, Marty Williams and many more said, “I am simply stunned at what they are able to offer as a day rate for this studio. It is one of the best deals I have ever come across.”
