Modena, Italy (December 19, 2007)–IK Multimedia’s ARC (Advanced Room Correction) system, a plug-in for MAC/PC DAW-based studios, is now shipping. IK Multimedia has teamed with Audyssey, a provider of sound equalization solutions, to provide this product for correcting the phase and frequency distortion problems caused by room acoustics in the studio mixing environment.
The ARC System, says the manufacturer, is comprised of a professionally calibrated measurement microphone, measuring software and a multi-platform plug-in that can be integrated with any DAW-based studio, and is said to be capable of correcting the distortion caused by room acoustics and able to improve how a studio will sound.
The ARC system uses Audyssey’s MultEQ technology, which reputedly corrects for both frequency and phase response for the engineer’s sweet spot and multiple points in the room.
According to the manufacturer, audible results of the ARC system include removal of low-end alterations, typically added by small rooms; more consistent frequency response across the entire range; and restoration of tonal balance, allowing for more accurate mixes.
The ARC system can also serve as a mobile solution for the traveling engineer and musician, with quick measurement and correction aided by the system’s step-by-step setup measurement wizard.
The ARC system features include step-by-step, room measurement software for Mac/PC; VST, RTAS, AU correction plug-in for Mac/PC-based DAWs such as Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic, Sonar and Live; and 1/4-inch professional measurement condenser microphone.
