Santa Monica, CA (September 17, 2007)– Nissan Live Sets on Yahoo! Music is making the transition from online to television broadcast. The online music concert series will debut as a monthly show on MTV Networks’ MHD: Music High-Definition channel with a performance by Rascal Flatts tonight (Monday, September 17).
Nissan Live Sets on Yahoo! Music tapes twice monthly in front of a live studio audience on a custom-built soundstage on the Fox Studio lot in Los Angeles. Recordings of the live shows are broadcast free online, where on-demand videos and songs as well as photos and blogs from the shows are also available.
Yahoo! Music recently announced that, in preparation for a move to broadband transmission, the concert series is being recorded entirely in 7.1 surround sound with the aid of the Holophone H2-PRO microphone. The Yahoo! Music production/post production studio also recently upgraded with a Solid State Logic C200 digital mixing console.
Each month, one artist performance from the web series will be selected to air on MHD as a 30-minute concert that includes fan Q&A. Past performances on Nissan Live Sets on Yahoo! Music represent a diverse array of musical genres and include Christina Aguilera, John Legend, Incubus, Beck, Velvet Revolver, Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, Chris Cornell, Nas, Common, Lifehouse, Melissa Etheridge and The Stooges.
“Video might have killed the radio star, but the internet certainly hasn’t killed the video star,” said Ian Rogers, GM of Yahoo! Music. ” Nissan Live Sets on Yahoo! Music has redefined how live music is experienced on the internet and set the gold standard for production value in music programming. The MHD series complements our on-demand offerings and gives music fans another high-quality way to experience our world-class entertainment.”
MHD: Music High-Definition, MTV Networks’ high-definition music channel, launched in January 2006 and features original programming for a variety of music genres.
