Port Washington, NY (September 21, 2004)–Koch Vision, the video division of independent audio giant Koch Entertainment, has entered into a distribution agreement with Liberty International Entertainment to release the extremely popular, currently broadcast PBS television series, Soundstage, on DVD.
The announcement was made jointly by Tim Hinsley, vice president of acquisition and development, Koch Vision and Randy Naft, president of Liberty International Entertainment. The Soundstage series includes performances of such popular musical talent as Alanis Morissette, Tom Petty, Cyndi Lauper, Chicago, Michael McDonald, Lindsey Buckingham with special guest Stevie Nicks, Lyle Lovett, Trace Adkins, and Travis Tritt, and many others. Each performance was shot in high-definition and recorded in 5.1 surround sound.
Originally airing as part of PBS’ famous pledge drive, the series has just begun its second season and continues to bring in a wide array of audiences. WTTW’s original Soundstage productions aired on PBS nationally from 1974 to 1985 and featured performing artists that defined the era. The new Soundstage series is produced by HD Ready, a Chicago-based high-definition television company.
Koch Vision will begin releasing the series in October, launching with Chicago In Concert: A Soundstage Special Event and Michael McDonald with Ashford and Simpson, featuring the Doobie Brothers, Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons. Hinsley comments on the agreement, “We are proud to bring this extraordinary series to DVD. Koch Vision is committed to delivering the highest quality programming to all viewing audiences, and Soundstage is the highest quality music programming available.”
Naft commented, “Soundstage is a one of a kind musical performance, capturing unique musical moments that fans cannot find anywhere else on TV. We are excited to partner with Koch, a leader in the field, to bring these concerts to all viewing audiences.”
