New York (November 16, 2009)–Westbury National Show Systems recently installed a full surround sound system, which includes JBL VP loudspeakers, for “Niagara’s Fury,” a new immersive attraction at the Table Rock complex at Niagara Falls.
Fury, a cornerstone of renovations at Table Rock, a destination for shopping, dining and entertainment, is an interactive show designed to recreate the sights and sounds of the creation of Niagara Falls. Images developed with technology used previously only in satellites and medicine are projected onto a single, 360-degree screen, providing an immersive experience. During the program, the temperature drops 20 degrees while water bubbles and snow falls around the participants, who stand in the middle of the room on a platform that tilts and trembles. Visitors leave Fury having seen, heard and felt the sensations of Niagara Falls’ birth.
At the heart of this experience lies an audio system that includes VP Series loudspeakers, arranged in a circular pattern on the perimeter of the room. There are eight loudspeakers in total, placed in 45-degree increments along the wall—seven VP7315-DPCN speakers and one VP7215-DPCN, all featuring CobraNet digital signal transport. The system also includes two JBL ASB6128 18-inch subwoofers. The system was configured using HiQnet System Architect.
“We were looking for a loudspeaker that could achieve high volume levels with no compromise in clarity,” said Brock McGinnis of Westbury National. “The VP Series speakers are very loud and very clear; the power is incredible.”
Additionally, JBL EON portable PA loudspeakers are used in the pre-show waiting area, accompanying a short animated feature projected onto the front wall. “The EON’s are a perfect fit for that space, and do a great job of providing sound reinforcement prior to the show,” McGinnis said. “We use JBL for all kinds of applications, and continue to do so because of their reliable performance.”
