New York, NY (August 5, 2005)–Last month, The Cutting Room Recording Studios hosted legendary jazz guitarist John McLaughlin, who was in working on tracks for his new record. Lending their considerable talents to the project were drummer Dennis Chambers and percussionist Zakir Hussain on tablas. The sessions were engineered by Chris Griffin in Studio A using Logic Audio. Anthony Gallo assisted the sessions.
Last month also signaled the start of tracking for the debut release from Columbia artist Susan Cagle. The record is being produced by Jay Levine (Fe Fe Dobson) and engineered by Kyle Kelso. This team will be camped out in the Cutting Room’s Studio A for the next month.
Carly Simon also returned to The Cutting Room in July to cut vocals, and Mos Def returned to the studio to cut vocals for a track on Kanye West’s new record. Dylan Margerum was behind the boards.
Also seeing time in July were UK artist Estelle, Talib Kweli, CL Smooth, Kayslay, Alex Kogan and others.
