KT Provides Papal Processing

Loreto, Italy (December 1, 2004)--The Catholic Movement meeting, Azione Cattolica, held one weekend in September, drew more than 400,000 people. Entertaining the masses were performances from a number of Italian stars and a concert given by the RAI (Italian state television) orchestra and choir, culminating on Sunday afternoon with Holy Mass celebrated by the Pope himself. Production company Limelite turned to Milan-based rental company MMS to handle sound reinforcement for the event. MMS provided a sizable PA based around EV and Klark Teknik gear.

MMS opted for an ElectroVoice X-Line/Xlc line array system comprising a total of 152 cabinets configured as two central X-Line clusters, two Xlc side clusters, and three delay positions of two Xlc clusters each. The system was driven by 98 EV Precision Series P3000 and P2000 amplifiers while a total of 10 Klark Teknik DN9848 digital loudspeaker processors handled all aspects of system control.

While the DN9848s looked after the FOH system, on stage a half-dozen DN360s provided monitor EQ while two DN1248 mic splitters provided 24 of the 140 channels of splits used to deliver broadcast feeds for the papal mass which was broadcast live on Italian national television.
