Port Arthur, TX (August 9, 2010)–Lamar State College-Port Arthur will introduce a one-year certificate program in Live Sound/Sound Reinforcement, starting with the coming fall semester.
The Live Sound/Sound Reinforcement Program at Lamar State compliments the school’s Sound Engineering Technology program, which trains students to be recording studio engineers. The Live Sound/Sound Reinforcement certificate program will aim to provide students with training in designing, installing, maintaining and engineering live events. Courses will start with basic principles of audio and build up to advanced courses in sound system design, optimization and live mixing.
The program will be based in Lamar State’s Music Hall, which seats 175 people and has large stage with an in-house sound system and a computerized LED lighting system for live performances.
No pre-qualification is necessary to register for the program; however, a short interview is required. The deadline for Fall Semester enrollment is August 20. Classes begin Monday, August 23.
