Toronto, Ontario, Canada (July 23, 2008)--While teams from over 200 nations compete for fame and honor at the Beijing Olympics, Lawo will have more than 50 mc≤ consoles in use at the Games.

The OB van fleet from Europe with mc≤66 consoles on site in Beijing for broadcasting the world feeds includes many Alfacam trucks as well as OB vans of Outside Broadcast and Prisma. Several audio control room cabins with installed mc≤66 consoles, including two being used by the Finnish broadcaster YLE, expand the mobile audio technology at the event. Among the Asian companies that will use mc≤66 desks for the Olympic Games are the Chinese state broadcaster CCTV (Chinese Central Television) and OB vans of Fujian TV and Hainan TV.

Lawo's rental company Audio Broadcast Services (ABS) is installing 17 surround control rooms with mc≤ desks in Beijing for the sound mix of the world's major sports event of this year. ABS is also responsible for planning, delivery, project engineering and on-site support.

Apart from implementation and support of the surround control rooms at Beijing, ABS will offer an additional service: they will hold a pool of Lawo equipment available for hire to any broadcaster should they need help if its equipment capacity limit has been exceeded, or it has have suffered a system failure. It will even be possible to hire a flight-cased mixing console system.
