Irwindale, CA (July 25, 2006)–At the recent Summer NAMM show in Austin, M-Audio introduced the new ProFire Lightbridge interface, a 32-channel Lightpipe I/O that interfaces up to four Lightpipe devices (digital mixers, AD/DA converters and/or ADATs) with a Mac or PC via FireWire.
M-Audio’s new ProFire Lightbridge interfaceIn addition to 32 channels of Lightpipe I/O, the unit has an S/PDIF I/O and two-channel analog output for a total of 34 x 36 concurrent channels at 44.1 or 48kHz sample rates. It also supports 16-channel Lightpipe operation at 88.2 and 96kHz sample rates via the SMUX protocol. The ProFire Lightbridge can output word clock as a master, or slave to external sync on any input, and MIDI I/O also accommodates MIDI Time Code and MIDI Machine Control. Independent volume controls are provided for the 1/4″ balanced outputs and front panel 1/4″ headphone jack. The ProFire Lightbridge is compatible with most DAW software.
M-Audio debuted a few other products at Summer NAMM, including its super-cool new Synchroscience line of DJ technology. The first product in that line is the Conectiv, a 4×4 USB DJ audio interface with the new Torq performance software. With two pairs of switchable RCA phono/line inputs, a 1/4″ mic input, two sets of stereo RCA outputs and USB 1.1, the Conectiv can turn a Mac or PC into a complete DJ rig.
M-Audio also released the IE line of professional reference earphones, which incorporate Ultimate Ears technology. According to M-Audio, the IE-10 reference earphones provide “pristine sound” with 26dB of isolation. If you crave more bass, the IE-20 XB dual-driver reference earphones deliver full frequency response with extended bass, and 16dB of isolation. The flagship IE-30 dual-driver reference earphones provide full frequency response and 26dB isolation. All models feature pro-style ear loops, a detachable cable to extend product life, and the Universal Fit Kit to ensure optimal comfort and sound isolation.
M-Audio also unveiled the new Studiophile BX10s professional active subwoofer, which is suitable for any monitoring environment requiring accurate low-frequency response down to 20Hz (and the perfect complement to M-Audio’s BX5a’s and BX8a’s). The BX10s has unique features including a subwoofer defeat function that lets you judge how a mix will sound without a dedicated subwoofer–controllable via the included non-latching footswitch.
