Austin, TX (July 14, 2006)–Mackie is using the Summer NAMM show, which started this morning, to introduce a new flagship Active subwoofer into its growing family of Active sound reinforcement speakers. The Mackie SWA2801z combines dual 18-inch drivers, a built-in 800-Watt FR Series power amplifier, and Mackie’s trademark Active onboard electronics to reportedly achieve greater levels of performance and output than “powered” subwoofers.
The Mackie SWA2801zSpecifically designed to outperform traditional 2 x 18-inch systems, the Mackie SWA2801z benefits from Mackie’s Active electronics, which provide much greater integration of all components in the system than tradition “powered” loudspeakers. Mackie Active electronics are customized for each driver/cabinet/amplifier combination and provide complete, real-time control over critical functions such as crossover filters, equalization, as well as protection for both transducer and electronics. Active electronics also allow for flawless integration with full-range loudspeakers, which can be stacked or pole-mounted–whether the SWA2801z is positioned vertically or horizontally.
XLR connections on the back of the SWA2801z provide stereo input, Loop-Through and High Pass outputs, while a Subwoofer Level control allows the user to easily blend the SWA2801z with its full-range counterparts. Carrying handles are built into each side of the robust enclosure and allow for easy loading. Heavy-duty casters are attached for smooth transport.
The Mackie SWA2801z, which is the perfect compliment to Mackie’s recently expanded SA and SR Series Active full-range loudspeakers, is currently shipping to authorized Mackie Active dealers throughout the U.S. The subwoofer carries a suggested retail price of $2299.99.
