New York, NY (June 3, 2008)--The Magic Shop Recording Studio has announced the opening of a new audio/visual mixing suite, the Red Room. The studio is a co-venture of Magic Shop owner Steve Rosenthal and producer/engineer Elliot Mazer.
The Red Room has a 7.1 monitoring system, and is being used to mix stereo and surround music, TV shows, commercials and film. The room is outfitted for audio restoration and archiving. Equipment includes Pro Tools|HD, Logic 8, NHT 7.1 monitors, Sony 27- and 46-inch displays, ATC nearfield monitors, Universal Audio 2192 converters, an extensive plug-in library, UA 2-610 tube preamp and Seagate media drives.
The first completed film project in the Red Room was Mazer's music mix of Abel Ferrara's documentary, Chelsea on the Rocks. Mazer also completed mixing blues artist Jake Walker's album, Confidence Man, and Soulfège's Do Right in the Red Room for his Left Turn Music imprint.
"I am thrilled to have Elliot join the Magic Shop family," says Rosenthal. "His legendary ears and technical savvy are a great addition to the studio."
"I've admired Steve for many years and greatly enjoy his recordings," says Mazer, who has produced multiplatinum albums by Neil Young, Janis Joplin, Linda Ronstadt and the Band, and remixed Young's Harvest for DVD-Audio release. "The Red Room is a custom-built room with amazing acoustics. It is a pleasure working there."
The Magic Shop Studio, now in its 20th year, also features Studio A, with its oversized live and control room; and the Blue Room, a complete audio restoration suite.
