Los Angeles, CA (September 8, 2006)–Joel Beckerman, an award winning composer/producer of music for television, and CEO/founder of Man Made Music, recently completed production of track sessions recording the original theme for the most anticipated new show on television this fall, The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric.
Working with Oscar winning composer James Horner, who wrote the new score, Beckerman recorded using a 20-piece orchestra, mostly comprised of the industry’s most talented studio musicians in the legendary Universal Studios in Los Angeles.
James Horner, the Academy Award-winning composer who received an Oscar for his score for Titanic and Oscar nominations for Braveheart, Apollo 13, Field of Dreams, Aliens and A Beautiful Mind, agreed to write the theme for the broadcast heralding a new era at the prestigious news desk following in the footsteps of Walter Cronkite and Dan Rather and reaching back to the shepherding of Edward R. Murrow.
“Working with James, one of the biggest talents in the business, was a big honor for me and working on the most prestigious project in my industry is a humbling experience. It comes down to a tried and true principle that I apply to all my projects which is crafting my clients vision and transforming it to sound, in this case capturing the genius of James Horner and his interpretation of The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric,” said Beckerman, who recently won ASCAP’s Film and Television award for the Most Performed Television Themes for 2005.
Beckerman also agreed with CBS News to score cues for the evening broadcast and The CBS Early Show as well as music for the 4:30 pm and the Up-to-the-Minute broadcasts.
The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric debuted September 5 on CBS and airs Monday through Friday.
