Los Angeles (November 8, 2005)–The L.A. Studios, Inc.. recently announced that its Margarita Mix de Santa Monica facility has upgraded its mixing suites to full high-definition.
The facility’s infrastructure has been re-engineered with Fairlight Dream Constellation workstations routed to a digital High-Definition D5 VCR. The rooms feature 61-inch high-definition monitors along with adaptable ergonomic advancements, accommodating the developing needs of the Hi-Def market. These features allow for the mixing of 5.1 surround sound to HD picture as well as layup to and layback from HD picture.
“Our entry into Hi-Def offers our clients, in multiple markets, the opportunity to work with the latest technology in a premium creative environment,” said Jonathan Whitehead, general manager, Margarita Mix de Santa Monica. “The new HD rooms perfectly complement our bourgeoning 5.1 business and we will continue to upgrade all of our L.A. Studios’ locations, enabling our clients to stay ahead of the curve regardless of geography.”
“We chose Margarita Mix de Santa Monica to do the 5.1 mix of the theatrical trailers for our new hit series Everybody Hates Chris and it was very helpful to be able to view them in HD right there in the studio,” said Jeff Morritt, VP advertising and promotion at UPN. “Overall, we had a terrific experience. The mixer was great to work with, the facilities were top-notch and the finished product sounded great.”
“Margarita Mix has always been our only choice for our 5.1 mixes and their new HD rooms are a great upgrade to a great studio,” said Sally Banta, partner/editor at The Reel Thing, Inc. “A full HD environment allows us to work at an extremely high creative level and is a fantastic addition to the facility’s excellent service, mixers and technology.”
