Houston, TX (July 14, 2004)–Austin singer/songwriter and grand prizewinner of the prestigious 2004 Texas Demo Review Panel and Contest, Matt the Electrician is currently working on his upcoming album at SugarHill Recording Studios with staff engineer John Griffin.

The Texas Demo Review Panel includes SugarHill’s own Dan Workman and Rodney Meyers as part of this year’s panel of newly elected governors. The contest, which is sponsored by the Grammy Texas Chapter and ASCAP, is the first of its kind, accepting 800-1,000 entries.
As part of the prize package, which includes studio recording time, mastering, distribution and promotions, Matt the Electrician is recording basic tracks at SugarHill’s Studio A and will continue mixing at Lonescar Studios, owned by Bruce Hughes, who is also co-producing this album. Hughes has played and/or recorded with an eclectic repertoire of bands including Poi Dog Pondering, Bob Schneider, Abra Moore, Roy Head and The True Believers. He has also produced four records along with being the full time bassist for Austin band, The Resentments.
While the album name remains untitled, Matt the Electrician (also known as Matt Sever) hopes to release the album mid-September. This is his fourth self-released album, and is recorded along with band members Tom Pearson and Jon Greene, whom have been playing with Matt for almost 7 years.
