New York, NY (April 13, 2004)--Meet Your Beat, an innovative provider of loops, sound effects and music has announced the debut of its first library, MYBVolume One. Available for preview and download exclusively at Sonomic, MYBVolume One features the talents and imagination of master reggae percussionist Larry McDonald.

MYB loops and sounds are royalty-free. Sonomic customers can buy samples individually for $1.99, or they can purchase a monthly subscription for $29.99 that gives them 30 downloads each month.

McDonald is regarded by many as the premier percussionist in world reggae music. Now residing in New York City, McDonald's career began at the heart of the Jamaican reggae/ska scene, with a list of credits that includes such artists as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Toots & the Maytals, Bunny Wailer, Bad Brains, Taj Mahal, the Skatalites, Gil Scott Heron, Soulfly and more. He is also a founding member of two of NYC's top reggae acts, The Rocksteady 7 and Dub is a Weapon.

For the MYBVolume One collection of 50 loops and one shots, McDonald used conga, shaker, tambourine and the increasingly popular cajon--a highly danceable drum from Peru--as the basis for authentic reggae beats that serve as the ideal foundation for a true Jamaican feel. His work with more specialized percussion instruments such as agogoblocks, afuche, and the Flexatone result in embellishments and one shots that will spice up any soundtrack with island-borne musicality, and can also serve as attention-getting, often humorous sound effects ideal for TV, film and multimedia use.

MYBVolume One was produced by Meet Your Beat founder David Weiss. Weiss is a long-time contributor to Drum! magazine, and produces and performs electronic music in and around the East coast as Impossible Objects. "We're extremely excited to officially launch Meet Your Beat," said Weiss. "Today's music and visual media producers have a constant need for fresh content, and these loops and one-shots by Larry McDonald answer the demand for easily accessible reggae grooves."
