Miami, FL (March 12, 2004)–Producer/songwriter Steve Morales recently chose the SSL XL 9000 K series console as the centerpiece for his new state-of-the-art studio, Icon Sound. Morales and his regular engineer Fabian Marasciullo’s combined discography includes work with Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Enrique Iglesias, Britney Spears, and J.LO. The K series console offers Icon the sound quality, automation flexibility and integrated surround mix capabilities demanded by the top-shelf acts that will frequent the facility.
“We are engaged in several developmental projects funded through the Icon Music Group,” said Morales. “Icon Sound specializes in creative strategies to produce, develop, and promote new, upcoming artists. Having the 9000 K available allows us to achieve our creative vision in the comfortable working environment of our personal facility.”
“What really sold me on the 9000 K was the new automation features that allow you to pretty much do whatever you want with heightened speed,” said Marasciullo. “The sonic quality is just incredible. The 9000 K makes everything sound so much bigger. That’s really the main thing for us, this console is very clean sounding and it makes the tracks big.”
One of the features of great interest to Icon is the integration of Digidesign Pro Tools into the console’s system monitor. “Having Pro Tools right on the console really sold Steve because it made our working mode more concentrated,” Marasciullo explained. “Having to look at a separate monitor for Pro Tools can break the creative flow of a project. With all the information right on the console, we can stay focused on the sweet spot of the sound field and on the project.”
Based on the HS Control Processor in SSL’s digital consoles, the K Series automation computer provides high-speed control of all automated functions. The console offers an integrated surround mixing section delivering superior audio quality that exceeds current digital bandwidth requirements.
“We went with the 9000 K because I want to sit down and have the time and equipment to be as creative as possible without being under the time constraints working in someone else’s studio,” stated Morales. “The console complements everything that goes through it. The EQ is so good, I want to get rid of all my outboard EQ.”
