San Francisco, CA (July 21, 2004)--Dolby Laboratories has announced that four more major North American networks are currently broadcasting or will be broadcasting in Dolby Digital 5.1. With the addition of these new channels, the number of North American networks on air in Dolby Digital 5.1 has surpassed two dozen, with more than 80 feeds in Dolby Digital 5.1.

TNT in HD went on the air in HD and Dolby Digital 5.1 in May of this year. All programs and commercials on TNT in HD will be presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.

Starz Encore Group LLC (Starz) announced in March 2004 that Dolby Digital 5.1 was part of its Encore HD service launch, for both East and West Coast feeds. Encore HD is the high-definition version of the flagship Encore channel, offering first-run and recent movies, all uncut and commercial free. STARZ! was the first premium movie channel to offer Dolby Digital 5.1 to standard-definition premium movie channel viewers, and has continually increased its Dolby Digital 5.1 offerings. STARZ! HD and Encore HD are currently featuring Dolby Digital 5.1 sound and high-definition video for such feature films as The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and Freddy vs Jason, and John Q and The Bourne Identity, respectively.

Chum Television has also announced that its HD channel City HD is now over the air in Dolby Digital 5.1. In 2003, City HD provided Canada's first over-the-air HD signal, and announced that HD programs such as the Much Music Awards feature Dolby Digital 5.1, so its viewers can take full advantage of their home theater systems.

Additionally, The WB announced that it will be up and running with certain theatrical titles in Dolby Digital 5.1 by autumn.
