Bahamas (February 21, 2006)--In mid-December, Pensacola, FL-based systems design and integration firm, All Pro Sound installed a new audio system in Abundant Life Bible Church, in Nassau, Bahamas, giving it a sizable audio makeover in a short time. The church's 500-seat sanctuary is covered by two EAW MK2164 loudspeakers for FOH mains and six Community CPL27s for upper & under balcony fills, powered by one Ashly 4.24D processor.

Cardy Rolle, volunteer console operator, with the church's newly installed Yamaha M7CL-48 digital audio consoleA half-dozen Sennheiser mics were added to the church's kit as well--three Evolution Wireless EW112G2s and three EW135G2s, for a total of 11 Sennheiser wireless mics.

One of the main focal points for audio enthusiasts, however, is the new Yamaha M7CL-48 digital console. The M7CL has been the subject of some anticipation by both gear-conscious end users and systems designers--All Pro Sound systems designer, Bill Manning, included. "I walked up to the console and thought, OK. Where to begin?," he said. "I put my hands on it, started using the touchscreen, and found it very intuitive, very easy to find my way around."

Of course, the ultimate test of how user-friendly a digital console lies in the operators' hands. "Bill gave us a rundown on the console," said volunteer operator, Cardy Rolle, "and I took the manual home to study. But the learning experience has mainly been fun. There's so much that you can do with this console that I am learning everyday... First of all, I have a user key that allows me to store my settings. They can't be changed by another user, and this is very valuable if you are working in an environment with a number of operators."

Installing the console involved cutting all of the old quarter-inch connectors and replacing them; all the inputs on the M7CL are XLR's. "Instead of pulling out Y's in the back of console," says Rolle, "now you patch to different channels by assigning inputs." The Church plans to do some live recording in the sanctuary with the M7CL and later, multi-track recording with the addition of a production facility.

Abundant Life is an independent, nondenominational, evangelical church operating autonomously in the Bahamian religious community for over 25 years.
