Benicia, CA (October 19, 2005)–Rockford Corporation today announced the sale of its NHT speaker brand to the Vinci Group of Colorado. NHT, which has been developing, manufacturing, and marketing high performance home and professional audio loudspeakers since 1986, will be incorporated in the state of Colorado, and will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Vinci Group.
“All of us at NHT are very excited about our new partners,” said Chris Byrne, co-founder and current managing director of NHT. “The combined influences of dramatic market change and the increasing pallet of new technologies to improve audio products make it necessary for companies like ours to evolve beyond passive loudspeaker design. With the substantial resources Vinci brings to NHT, we are in a great position for growth.”
Vinci Labs, based in Tampere, Finland, specializes in OEM and ODM design and manufacture of high performance processors and other electronic components for a number of prominent consumer electronics brands. Formerly Flextronics Design, the company was formed in 2004 when a private consortium based in Boulder, CO acquired the company and renamed it Vinci Labs, now managed by Kimmo Salmi, managing director, and Esa Piirila, CTO of the Vinci Group.
“We believe there is tremendous potential for growth in the Consumer Electronics space,” stated Mark Herbst, CEO of the Vinci Group. “The combined core competencies of the two companies give us a tremendous advantage for success in the coming years.”
NHT will continue to manage its operations from its facility in Benicia, CA, with most of the same team that has been with the brand since its inception. Byrne retains his role as managing director, while Andy Regan, currently vice president of sales & marketing for Vinci Labs, will assume the position of senior vice president of sales & marketing, Vinci Group, encompassing both Vinci Labs and NHT. John Johnsen moves from NHT’s director of sales to vice president, brand marketing, and Jack Hidley moves from his role as NHT’s director of engineering to vice president of engineering, NHT.
