Benicia, CA (February 10, 2006)–NHT Pro Audio announced it is providing 76 single-channel M-20 monitor systems to NBC for the network’s coverage of the Torino Olympic Winter Games from Torino, Italy, February 10-26. Bob Dixon, manager, sound design, NBC Olympics, and Don Bassey, NHT Pro Audio’s product manager, made the announcement.
“NBC Olympics has used NHT Pro Audio monitors for the simple reason they provide detailed imaging and an expansive soundfield without subjecting engineers to the ‘listener fatigue’ that’s common with some other speakers,” said Dixon.
“We’re proud to support NBC’s coverage of the Torino Winter Olympics with what we feel is one of the most honest and reliable monitors on the block,” said Bassey. “The M-20’s sonic output and overall performance adapt to practically any studio’s multichannel mixing environment.”
The M-20 features a newly designed gunmetal gray cabinet that adds additional bracing around the woofer and provides improved cabinet geometry for surround soundfields. As a direct descendant of the A-20, the M-20 utilizes the same sophisticated drive units, including a long-throw 6.5-inch woofer and a 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter, both of which are shielded. The aluminum dome tweeter relies on a microfabric surround at the edge termination and ferro-fluid in the voice coil gap for proper damping, removing all traces of the “ringing” associated with typical metal diaphragm designs.
In addition, the tweeter’s “under-hung” motor design reduces voice coil mass to ensure linear high frequency response and low distortion–even at the highest listening levels. The woofer’s treated paper curvilinear cone design exceeds the rigidity of plastic cone designs without the inherent break-up modes experienced with the latter. NHT’s engineers minimized cone-related standing waves by mitering the edge of the cone at the surround joint.
Included with each M-20 monitor is a single-rack-space, Class A/B 250 Watt control amplifier.
