Hollywood, CA (January 25, 2008)--Novastar recently provided audio post production services for Univision's original production, the Jennifer Lopez-produced, six-hour mini-series, Como Ama Una Mujer ( How a Woman Loves). The project included ADR work at Novastar's Hollywood facility, sound design and a final mix by re-recording mixer Carlos Solis.
"The sound is superb and was executed at the highest quality," said Novastar director of operations Nav Singh. "The musical numbers are especially amazing and we are very proud to have assisted Univision with this groundbreaking project."
ADR at Novastar included sessions with the series' principal talent as well as singer Marc Anthony, who performs several songs in the series. Four-time Emmy nominee Harry Snodgrass created the sound design. Snodgrass produced a number of sound environments for the series representing, among other things, a packed soccer stadium and Latin American street scenes.
Solis, selected for the project for his experience in feature films and musical programming, performed the final mix in Novastar's Stage D using a Digidesign Pro Tools|HD3 system. He is fluent in Spanish, which helped both creatively and in communicating with the production staff. "He brought a lot of realism to the project because of his familiarity with the culture," said Singh. "Being able to communicate with the director, Antonio Serrano, in his native language ensured that none of the intended vision was lost in translation."
Univision's first-ever mini-series, Como Ama Una Mujer was inspired by the lyrics of Lopez' first Spanish-language album, released last year. Each episode ends with a performance by Lopez of the song that inspired it. The series features a cast of stars of Spanish-language television and film including Leonor Varela, Raul Mendez and Cristi·n de la Fuente. Sony Music will release a DVD set later this year.
