Cedar Rapids, IA (January 15, 2008)--The NSCA Education Foundation will award five $1,000 scholarships in 2008. The money will be available to students who are interested in the commercial electronic systems industry, for tuition in a college or technical school program.
Students interested in the following fields are encouraged to apply for the scholarship: acoustics, audio, automation and control systems, A/V, communications, data networks, digital signage, information technology, interactive display, life safety, lighting, telephony or video.
"NSCA Education Foundation scholarships provide people interested in the commercial electronics industry with the means to get started with a broad-based, practical and theoretical education," said Tom Frericks, president of the Foundation Board. "Students participating in the NSCA Education Foundation scholarship program will enter an exciting field with fantastic growth opportunities."
Any high school senior or college student with a 2.0 GPA pursuing a career in electronic systems is eligible to apply for a scholarship. The award may be used for tuition at any accredited, post-secondary institution. Applications are due April 18, 2008, and announcements will be made by July 3, 2008.
During the current fiscal year, the NSCA Education Foundation will focus on the next generation of professionals entering the commercial electronic systems industry. The Foundation is reaching out to schools and students; offering scholarships, student memberships to NSCA and job resources; as well as building an endowment fund for the future.
