Hollywood, CA (February 19, 2008)–Hollywood’s Outlaw Sound has diversified recently into interactive and game audio post production. The studio has also made some recent upgrades, including the installation of password-protected wireless broadband access throughout the facility and new Sony and JVC flat screen LCD video monitors.
Ready 2 Rumble, the classic boxing video game, is returning for another round with all-new characters featuring the persona (and voice) of ring announcer, Michael Buffer. Hundreds of lines of dialog and reactions were recorded at Outlaw for the Nintendo Wii game, due in September 2008 from Asahi Broadcasting Enterprises. Producers Bill Froehlich and Mike Haller directed 13 actors, including Buffer and his brother, Bruce.
Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, co-creators and executive producers of TV series Lost, were featured on WBUR’s OnPoint with Tom Ashbrook, live on NPR from Boston. Outlaw Sound made the connection from Hollywood possible using the Telos Zephyr.
Melinda Clarke ( The O.C.) spent two days at Outlaw Sound recording ADR for Lifetime TV’s She Drives Me Crazy. Clarke stars as the free-spirited Blithe in this made-for-TV movie about two estranged sisters who take a road trip together to their high school reunion. The film is produced by Clarke’s O.C. co-star, Kelly Rowan.
One of the scenes features Blithe singing in a karaoke bar while her sister, Virginia, unknowingly looks on. It only took a couple of takes to get it right, according to Allen Roth, president, Outlaw Sound. The files were exported from Pro Tools and uploaded to Outlaw’s FTP site for immediate download to Shaftesbury Films.
To help promote the international release of Ugly Betty: Season 1 on DVD, one of the series’ stars, Ashley Jensen, took a “radio tour” of her native England, being interviewed by up to eight radio personalities, live, within a matter of 90 minutes. London-based producer Wired (UK) connected to Outlaw via the Telos Zephyr using the G.722 protocol.
