Orange, CA (September 20, 2007)--Radian Audio Engineering, manufacturer of the MicroWedge line of professional stage monitors, has officially discontinued its production of the line. Rat Sound, designers of the MicroWedge, recently signed an agreement with EAW to produce the next generation of MicroWedges. Radian is now in production of a new series of professional performance wedges, badged the APEX series.

Radian had previously produced MicroWedges, but the agreement between Radian Audio and Rat Sound recently expired; at that time, it was mutually agreed upon that Radian and Rat sound would part ways after a seven-year partnership.

"The New Apex 1200 and 1500 take up where Microwedge left off, addressing many of the features of the previous model," said Michael Palmer, director of Sales for Radian. "The New APEX series will be smaller in profile, have increased vertical dispersion and be lighter in weight than its predecessor."

He added, "The Microwedge was and still is a great monitor; this was due a great external design of the enclosure and the proprietary Coaxial loudspeaker and HF diaphragm, which is a Radian Trademark." The new APEX series will share this sonic signature to assure that they will easily mix/match the older units. In addition, there will be an upgrade kit available for current Microwedge users to upgrade to the new lighter driver through Radian.

Current Microwedge users will continue to be supported with parts and service, and the new Apex series enclosures will begin shipping in the 4th quarter of 2007.
