Pompton Plains, NJ (July 24, 2009)–Powersoft Advanced Technologies has premiered its K2 amplifier, which is an extension of the company’s K-Light Series, which launched last year with the K3 model.
The K2 features the same compact dimensions as the K3 (a one-rack unit case, 360mm deep with a weight of 8 Kg). It provides 1,000 W per channel with an 8-ohm speaker load, 1,950 W at 4 ohms and 2,400 W at 2 ohms in stereo configuration. Its bridge mode operation is 3,900 W at 8ohms and 4,800 W at 4 ohms. Each modular subassembly is pre-tested, and the assembled K2 receives a 48-hour burn-in before final checkout.
Offering DSP for full onboard sound processing with up to 16 EQ filters per channel, the K2 is equipped with FIR filters with a crossover slope of up to 48 dB per octave. The DSP package is capable of up to two seconds of delay per channel for time correction between satellite speakers. The peak limiter and true power limiter functions reportedly offer loudspeaker protection, while the patented damping factor and cable resistance compensation network offers a low end that is independent from cable section and length.
