Frankfurt, Germany (April 7, 2005)–PreSonus announced at MusikMesse this week that it’s shipping the all new Firebox, a compact yet powerful FireWire recording system with the ability to record and playback six inputs and ten outputs simultaneously at professional-grade 24-bit/96k resolution. Also announced was the new ADL600 high voltage Class A, two-channel tube mic preamp, designed by Anthony DeMaria.
The Firebox is housed in a compact 1/3U wide tough little metal chassis which also fits in the PreSonus MaxRack Rack-mounting System. The Firebox includes two high quality PreSonus microphone/ instrument preamplifiers, two analog line inputs, eight balanced analog line outputs, headphone output as well as SPDIF and MIDI input/output. For enhanced portability, the Firebox can be powered by either a six-pin FireWire connector or the included external power supply. The Firebox ships complete with Steinberg’s Cubase LE 48-track audio production software.
PreSonus demonstrated the ADL 600 high voltage Class A, two channel tube microphone preamplifier in the Hyperactive booth at Messe. The ADL 600 is packed with six high-voltage vacuum tubes (three per channel), military-grade switched attenuators, analog VU and LED metering as well as instrument input, line input and selectable microphone input impedance. The ADL 600 utilizes extremely high voltage power rails (600V peak to peak) delivering 75dB of gain, +36dB of headroom, and extremely wide frequency range of 5Hz to 80kHz within 0.5dB. The combination of DeMaria’s preamplifier design and PreSonus’ state-of-the-art manufacturing process achieves a new standard in hand-made, high-voltage tube preamplifiers.
PreSonus also announced its BlueTube DP Dual Path Preamp is now shipping. The BlueTube DP will replace the BlueTube by adding enhanced features including a dual signal path with both a solid state preamplifier stage and a tube preamplifier stage enabling the user to switch between an ultra quiet transparent solid state preamp and a smooth, round, warm tube preamp. The new BlueTube DP also boasts a -6dB better signal to noise ratio than its predecessor. The BlueTube DP is a suitable front-end preamp for mics and instruments for any digital audio workstation.
