Comstock owns Indre Recording and Production, a mobile recording company based out of Havertown, PA, and has engineered over 600 broadcast sessions, concert DVDs, and live albums.
For the Joel recording, Comstock used a mic splitter running into the rack of DigiMax LT mic pres using onboard A/D conversion. A RME adi-648 ADAT-to-MADI fiber converter sent this to Comstock’s recording setup in the Indre truck, where it was monitored, mixed, and captured on his DAW.
“We have been using a rack of DigiMax LT mic pres as the front end for our remote recording system for five years now,” Sys Comstock. “That unit is a true workhorse piece of gear–built like a tank and always reliable. I believe the DigiMax LT can hold its own sonically against mic pres costing three times as much. They earn their keep every day for me. I’m a huge fan of PreSonus.”
