Stockholm Sweden (May 2, 2006)–Propellerhead Software announces the availability of Reason Drum Kits Vintage Mono as a free download for registered users of Reason Drum Kits 2.0 ReFill. This is the return of Mono offered as an addition to the RDK drum palette.
Vintage Mono features a wide array of preset kits and producer patches. The RDK Vintage Mono uses a single microphone to capture a full kit, effectively mimicking the sonic ideals and recording techniques of the 60’s. And the cost of these vintage dream drums? Nothing but the wear and tear the user’s fingertips might be subject to as they log on to www.propellerheads.se and register their copy of Reason Drum Kits 2.0!
The RDK Vintage Mono ReFill is built on the same individual drum and cymbal hits as those featured in the Reason Drum Kits 2.0 library, only in this case, the sounds provided are picked up by a single tube microphone–a Neumann U47 whose signal is not available in the original RDK 2.0 setup–placed 5 feet behind the back of the drummer. The result is a set of vintage-scented Combinator drum kits with a roomy sound–all represented on a single channel in Reason’s mixer.
RDK Vintage Mono contains 14 Preset Kits: Miscellaneous, Pop, Rock, Vintage Soul, and Funk, plus three amazing Producer kits. For maximum flexibility, the Preset and Producer kits are made up of sounds from both the Vintage Mono and Reason Drum Kit 2.0 ReFills, allowing mixing between close and mono ambience mics. Like all Propellerhead Software Refills, Vintage Mono makes full use of the Combinator’s front panel controls and rotaries. Users can easily shape the sound of the drums by adjusting the Bass Drum Damp control, the Pressure Amount dial, the Short Snare button or the Bass Drum Close On/Off switch.
