Costa Mesa, CA (June 30, 2010)--QSC Audio has introduced its KW Series powered loudspeakers. Engineered the same as the company’s K Series, KW Series powered loudspeakers feature a compact Baltic-birch enclosure that is said to be lighter than other wood enclosures in this class.
“The KW Series represents the next evolutionary step in wooden enclosure loudspeakers,” states Justin O’Connor, product manager at QSC Audio. “Moreover, their design coupled with the M10 suspension points on the full-range models makes KW Series versatile enough for both portable and installed sound applications.”
This new, second-generation, Baltic-birch design will be the same 1,000 W of Class-D power modules (2 x 500 W), 1.75-inch, high-output HF device (in the full-range models) and DSP featured in the K Series. The KW Series comprises four models--the KW122 (12-inch, 2-way multipurpose loudspeaker), KW152 (15-inch, 2-way trapezoidal loudspeaker), KW153 (15-inch, 3-way trapezoidal loudspeaker) and KW181 (18-inch subwoofer).
The system also incorporates DEEP and Intrinsic Correction as performance enhancers into the DSP, while DMT (Directivity Matched Transition) reportedly ensures uniform coverage across the entire sound field. In addition, the KW Series features GuardRail protection, first introduced on QSC's GX Series amplifiers, which prevents the amplifier module from unnatural and destructive clipping, while the full-range models also include a four-position Mic/Line gain switch.
The construction of these enclosures features tour-grade, 16-gauge steel grilles; ergonomic handles; and 35mm pole sockets with Tilt-Direct (on the KW122 and KW152 models). M10 rigging points enable suspended installation of the full-range models, and the KW122 can also function as a stage monitor.
