British Columbia, Canada (November 4, 2008)–Radial Engineering has launched Forest Audio, a range of audio products designed primarily for the professional recording market. The first of these new products is the Forest F15 Roundback instrument preamp.
The unit is a combination 2-channel instrument preamp, direct box and re-amper. It features Class-A feed-forward topology for signal purity. There are no op-amps in the main audio circuit or negative feedback loops. It also features Drag Control load correction. For acoustic instruments, the F15 has a built-in piezo signal booster for gain and a 10mg-ohm input impedance. This is augmented with switchable 6V and 12V phantom powering for miniature electret instrument microphones. Outputs include a complement of dual mono or mixed balanced outputs with choice of 1/4-inch and XLRs.
Channel outputs are assignable to dual mono or “mixed” to mono to enhance connectivity options. The F15 is distinguished by its Roundback design, providing a large “work platform” under the roll-cage for additional “set and forget” functions. The front panel features a recessed canopy, creating a protective barrier around switches, knobs and jacks.
