Llanelli, Wales (January 8, 2007)–Opened in 1991 but with a history going back to 1973, Radio BGM at the Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli, Wales recently decided to upgrade its main on-air studio and opted for an S2 mixing desk from Sonifex.
Sonifex’s S2 mixing desk at Radio BGM at the Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli, Wales.Radio BGM’s David Hurford said, “Operational demands are high on a hospital radio mixing desk–it requires robustness, functionality and ease of use in an affordable package. The Sonifex S2 certainly delivered on all these.”
The S2 is a flexible, modular on-air mixing desk with optional digital input channels and simultaneous analog and AES/EBU digital outputs as standard. S2 packs all the features needed for an on-air mixer into an ergonomically efficient and attractive frame, and the low-profile design helps in creating an uncluttered studio environment.
Hurford explained, “We have attracted many new volunteers recently who have little or no previous technical operations experience but who now feel comfortable using the desk in a very short space of time. Everything is clearly identified, and its configuration can be determined at a glance.”
Radio BGM wired all the S2’s input connectors and D types to Krone IDC blocks as this will make any future addition of outboard gear a lot easier. Hurford continued, “We were impressed by invaluable technical support we got from Sonifex and are looking at purchasing another for our second smaller studio as soon as funding allows.”
