Quincy, IL (June 8, 2009)--The Public Relations Department (PRD) in Thailand has acquired 13 BE FMi 106 "HD Ready" FM transmitter systems from Broadcast Electronics (BE).
This latest order by Radio Thailand adds to a large installed base of BE "HD Ready" FM transmitters in Thailand, including recent BE transmitters ordered by the Royal Thailand Air Force and Army and GMM Grammy.
The FMi 106 transmitters were acquired as part of PRD's re-branding and expansion of its radio networks at the national and local level, including eventual HD Radio digital radio conversion. "We have a very strong working partnership in Thailand, and are happy they entrusted us with their expansion and future HD Radio plans," said Frank Massa, Asia Pacific sales manager for Broadcast Electronics.
PRD's new HD Radio-ready FMi 106 transmitters are currently operating in analog FM mode at 2 kW transmitter output, but are switchable in the field to broadcast HD Radio or HD Radio plus FM analog.
"This is a very affordable, robust system that will enable PRD to expand into new broadcast territories in analog now, while providing them with digital radio opportunities when they're ready," said Pairoj Veeranondh, managing director of Broadcast and Studio Co. Ltd., which supplied and installed the systems as Broadcast Electronics' representative in Thailand.
