Venice, CA (July 17, 2006)–Audio post house RavensWork has promoted Scott Burns to mixer. Burns, an assistant mixer with the company since 1997, will operate out of a new, state-of-the-art mixing studio, RavensWork’s third.
Scott Burns “Scott is a natural talent and he has a naturally calming personality-people love working with him,” said RavensWork founder Robert Feist. “I am thrilled to have him working in our new room. It’s a great opportunity for him and for RavensWork.”
Burns has been assisting Feist for the past four years and also handling occasional mixing assignments. As a mixer, his credits include commercials for Kodak, Mercury Insurance and Land Rover, and television promos for such clients as ESPN and the Sci-Fi Channel. He has also worked on several independent films, including The Sandpiper and Hired Help.
According to Burns, RavensWork’s boutique size and creative orientation provided both the perfect environment to learn his craft and excellent opportunities to apply it. “I love the creative aspect of mixing,” he said. “Sound is elusive and you often have to come up with creative ways to achieve the effect the client is after.”
Burns is a graduate of the University of Southern California, where he studied recording engineering. He is also a multi-instrumentalist musician and a composer. He began his career with Burbank recording studio Alpha Studios, where he worked as a second engineer.
The new mixing suite features a Fairlight MFX3.48 digital audio workstation and a Fairlight Dream Constellation with Pyxis Non-Linear Video. It also has 5.1 surround sound capabilities. The set up is identical to RavensWork’s other studios. The three rooms are connected via a high-speed digital network that allows projects to migrate between rooms seamlessly.
