Washington, DC (May 3, 2005)–The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has created a program through which any record label can obtain a license for use of the logo for DualDisc, the product which combines music, film and video on a single, 2-sided disc.
The RIAA program was created to ensure consistent quality and avoid consumer confusion. Use of the DualDisc logo is available to any record label, independent or major, U.S. or international-based, for a nominal fee. Trial licenses are available for those labels that desire to explore market interest in DualDiscs for their artists.
Information on appropriate DualDisc logo usage is available at the website, DualDiscLicensing.org. This informational site is designed to provide a clear, consistent identity for DualDisc, as well as to establish clear standards for products bearing the logo.
“DualDiscs are an exciting new product that offers music fans a superior music and video experience, while at the same time providing artists with an innovative avenue for creative expression,” commented Cary Sherman, president, RIAA. “We are excited to do our part to broaden acceptance and understanding of DualDisc. It is another illustration of an industry that is working hard to bring greater value to consumers, both online and in record stores, with high-quality, value-rich products.”
