New York (May 3, 2010)–Riedel Communications has helped the Red Bull Air Race to its second consecutive Sports Emmy Award.

The Red Bull Air Race World Championship, broadcast in the US on Fox Sports Network (FSN), won in the category Outstanding Technical Team Remote, which recognizes the technical portion of sports programs in remote venues. The National Academy of Television Arts and Science announced the award at the 31 annual Sports Emmy Awards in New York on April 26.

Utilizing its MediorNet technology, Riedel Communications is responsible for all on-site communications and signal distribution for the event as well as the wireless onboard HD cameras at the Red Bull Air Race. Red Bull Air Race GmbH partners with US company G.R.A.C.E. Productions, Austria-based production company West4Media, plus Riedel Communications, SiVision and Sky Media, to produce the broadcast.

Riedel Communications is serving as an official global supplier to the Red Bull Air Race World Championship for the seventh year in a row, providing the entire communications and signal distribution solutions, and integrating both HD video and audio signals as well as wireless and wired digital intercom systems. Additionally, Riedel is supplying the HD cameras and RF links for the race planes’ onboard cameras, enabling pictures to be delivered from the pilots’ perspectives.

During the past year, 270 million TV viewers in 183 countries watched the 2009 Red Bull Air Race World Championships. This year, for the first time, the Red Bull Air Race’s eight-race World Championship schedule includes a stop in New York City–on June 19 and 20–before moving on to Europe for three further events.
