New York, NY (April 16, 2008)--RK/music and Mixology Post recently collaborated with NY1 on a graphics and music package for the TV station's coverage of the visit by Pope Benedict XVI visit to Washington, DC and New York City.
Developed in-house by NY1, the show package consists of an opener, beds, bumps, and promos. The music package created by RK/music expresses the humanistic vision of Pope Benedict with a choir of respectful, yet inspirational strings and brass.
"It's a delicate balance," said Rob Kahn of RK/music. "We wanted to capture the Pope's warmth and devout beliefs, but we didn't want to create a religious piece of music. We are composing for the news." The result is a piece that portrays regal themes and a sense of tradition, but still appeals to news-watchers of all backgrounds and interests.
The Pope will make his first visit to the United States since being elected to the papacy in 2005, arriving on April 15. He will visit Washington, DC for three days before traveling to New York City, where NY1, the 24-hour news station of New York City on Time Warner Cable, will provide extensive coverage of all papal appearances and related events.
During the three-day visit to New York, April 18 through 20, the pope will visit the former World Trade Center Site, give a public mass at Yankee Stadium, and address the United Nations. Pope Benedict will also hold the first mass ever celebrated by a pope in Saint Patrick's Cathedral.
The NY1 package was created and produced by Pat Obermeier, Christopher Mullen, and Larry Rochman. Alan Palanker of RK/music composed the theme.
