New York, NY (June 5, 2009)--Manhattan music production company RK/Music is a finalist in one of only two Promax/BDA Awards music categories.
RK/Music is nominated in the category of Music Package/Post Score or Industrial Theme with or without Vocals for "Turn Around," an original song for truTV's Hot Pursuit promo. The competition winners will be announced at the Promax Conference in June.
"Turn Around," written by RK/Music composer Jeremy Borer, captures the ludicrous nature of reality car chases. It's laid back tempo and relaxed guitar rhythms, coupled with whimsical vocals, creates an ironic juxtaposition to the high speed skidding and swerving in the video. "We really had a blast with this piece," said Rob Kahn, founder of RK/Music. "We kept the feel really low tech to match the feel of the picture, but wanted the music to contrast with the adrenaline-fueled car crashes on the screen."
Borer has been composing for RK/Music since 2004. His music can be heard with the bands Letters Lost and Before Balance, and on many TV networks, including A&E, Starz, MTV and The Discovery Channel.
RK/Music has taken home trophies from Promax almost every year since it won Gold in 1997 for the Time Warner Cable campaign, "Watch it Your Way." They also have numerous Emmy, Telly, CAB, Addy and New York Festival awards.
RK/Music was founded in 1986 as a music production company with its sole purpose to create original music for television and radio. It has since expanded into original music and sound design, specializing in brand sonification, show openings, and promos. Mixology Post, its partner company, focuses on audio-post production and voice over recording.
