Ireland (September 4, 2009)–Road Crew, the cult webcomic starring sardonic Jim Soundman and his crew of misfit techs, has announced its first paperback collection. Electric Ladyland is now available for pre-order with a number of bonuses in advance of publication.
The book contains five full stories and a number of random strips, as it follows “the adventures of the guys behind the scenes of the music industry as they fall through the cracks of rock and roll excess.” The 140-page, black and white, Manga-sized (digest-sized) book will feature a full-color, laminated cover, and art completely reformatted so that it reads like a normal graphic novel.
While the book will go on sale in Novemeber, pre-orders will include a number of bonuses, according to writer/artist/ex-sound engineer Tommie Kelly: “All pre-orders, for a limited time, will recieve the Artist’s Edition of the book for no extra cost. What’s an Artist’s Edition you ask? Well, this is a signed version with an inked sketch. (Due to the layout of the book the sketch will be at the back of the book, but it’ll be signed at the front!)
He adds, “You will also receive a digital version of the book, which you will be able to download the instant you pay. This digital version will be in the form of a .CBR file. For those who don’t know what this is, it’s a format used for a lot of illegal downloads of comics, but hey, who says you can’t use it for the good, huh? There is a great free app that you can download to view this type of file at http://comicrack.cyolito.com/ check it out. Also, you will recieve as soon as you pay will be the downloadable George In India E.P [an EP by a “fictional band” that appears in the comic].”
The book is priced at £15 for Europe and $22 U.S. (shipping included), and can be purchased at the Road Crew site via PayPal.
