Agoura Hills, CA (May 14, 2004)–DTS (Digital Theater Systems, Inc.) has appointed consumer electronics industry veteran Ronald Stone to its board of directors. A top executive at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. for 28 years, Stone’s expertise is expected to enhance the membership of DTS’ board and play a key role in the leadership of the company. His appointment as an independent director brings the company’s board of directors to eight members, six of whom are independent directors as defined by NASDAQ rules.
“As DTS grows, we continue to seek experienced board members who can guide the company’s growth,” said Dan Slusser, chairman of the board. “Bringing three decades of leadership in the consumer electronics space, Ron Stone was an ideal candidate for us.”
Stone is currently an advisor to Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc., a global consumer electronics company, and has held that role since he retired from Pioneer in May 2003. He began his career at Pioneer in 1975, where he held various executive positions at the company, including president of the customer support division, and executive vice president and chief financial officer of the company. He also served on the board of directors at Pioneer and several of its North American subsidiaries. Formerly chairman of the executive committee, Stone now serves on the executive board of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), owner of the International Consumer Electronics Show. He also serves on the UCLA Medical Center board of advisors and on its information technology and finance committees. Stone received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Southern California, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
