Alachua, FL (March 23, 2007)--Sabine engineers have developed a phantom-powered in-line digital signal processor (DSP) that brings feedback control, automatic gain control and proximity effect control to the microphone. The new Phantom Mic Rider is the audio industry's first phantom-powered DSP.

"Microphone problems are history," stated Sabine Marketing director Rob Rothschild. "The Sabine Phantom Mic Rider solves every podium microphone problem imaginable, including improper mic technique."

Each Phantom contains the FBX Feedback Exterminator--the Sabine algorithm that increases gain before feedback; Automatic Gain Control--which maintains gain as the user moves toward and away from the mic; Proximity Effect Control--which reduces excess bass sound as the user gets closer to the mic and maintains flat frequency response at all distances from the mic; Plosive Control--which reduces the loud pops and bursts from certain consonant sounds in speech; and a Gate--which mutes the mic when no one is in front of it, using the included infrared sensor.

Installation and setup are fast and easy, and once installed, the adaptive functions of the Phantom take care of feedback, gain, and clarity. "It is like having an engineer in every microphone," said Rothschild, "one who manages the gain, drops in a parametric filter to kill feedback, tweaks the EQ when the speaker gets too close, edits out the plosive sounds without affecting the audio, and even turns the mic off if no one is near it."

Phantoms come is three models: the PMR-GP1-12 and PMR-GP1-18, for gooseneck mics of 12 or 18 inches; the IR sensor and plug are included at either length; the PMR-HH1 has the IR sensor built in and is for handheld mics.
