Los Angeles, CA (September 14, 2006)–SDI Media Group announced the acquisition of Sun Studio International, the foremost European language dubbing company, with headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark, and operations in eight countries. The acquisition strengthens SDI Media Group’s unique position as a one-stop shop for worldwide localization of feature films, DVDs, interactive and video games, television and new media.
“Over the next decade, the entertainment industry will export more content to more markets in more technology platforms and with ever-shorter release schedules,” said Barry Perlstein, chief executive officer of SDI Media Group. “With the acquisition of Sun Studio and other critical investments in infrastructure, we can help our clients meet these challenges, at the highest quality, while managing costs.”
SDI Media Group already is well known in the industry for its proprietary digital and highly secure systems, combined with an ability to reach into key markets around the world. The company handles post-production work on live-action and animated films, as well as video games, television shows and other entertainment content.
“We look forward to working with Barry Perlstein and SDI Media Group in setting the standard for high-quality dubbing for the entertainment industry’s top brands,” said Svend Christiansen, Sun’s founder and chief executive. “Together, we plan to expand our capabilities throughout Europe, offering our clients a seamless suite of services unmatched in the industry.”
The acquisition adds world class dubbing facilities in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, The Netherlands, Poland and Belgium to SDI’s network. Sun Studio management, including Christiansen, will continue on in their current roles at the company and will assume management of SDI’s Russian and Czech Republic studios under the Sun brand. Recent Sun credits include Monster House, The Ant Bully, Over the Hedge, and Ice Age 2.
