Santa Monica, CA (July 19, 2007) -- Shoreline Studios has been chosen by Blur Studio to complete the trailer for Empire Earth III, the third iteration in Sierra Entertainment's multimillion-unit-selling, real-time strategy (RTS) game series. Shoreline provided sound mixing services for Blur Studio as game cinematics were compiled for the trailer and put the finishing touches on the finalized sequence.
"The sound element of game cinematics can't be mixed until the visual element is done, making it important for Blur Studio and companies such as ours to work with a mixing studio that can deliver high-quality sound within a very tight time frame," said Dave Wilson, CG supervisor, Blur Studio. "We incorporate some unique and dynamic features in Empire Earth III, and Shoreline helped us showcase those aspects of the game while also making sure the finished product was ready for its media debut. We were very happy with the result."
Empire Earth III lets players from across the entire globe battle, as they make their bid for world domination. Gameplay unfolds in a richly detailed Earth made up of 60 skirmish maps (provinces) representing real locations on the globe, or the user can create a randomly generated globe to conquer. Players can choose both the starting location and starting era in one of three factions--Western, Middle Eastern, and Eastern--and even create custom civilizations of their own choosing within each faction.
Blur Studio and Shoreline have collaborated on earlier projects, including the 2004 Academy Award-nominated animated short Gopher Broke. This latest project for Empire Earth III demanded that Shoreline prepare a preliminary mix based on inputs from Blur Studio as it resolved the look of the trailer. After a couple of weeks of working through the material, Shoreline had fewer than two days to shape rough sound mixes and effects into a polished representation of the new game.
