Melbourne, VIC, Australia (January 11, 2006)–SM Pro Audio will release its new PR8-E multichannel microphone preamplifier at the NAMM 2006 in Anaheim next week. SM Pro Audio has designed a completely new circuit layout from the ground-up for the new PR8-E, and has exercised careful placement of the latest components onto a single board for an end result that’s said to boast eight exceptionally high-quality, low noise pre-amps with impressively high gain structures. Check it out at SM Pro Audio’s NAMM booth, #6809, in Hall A.
Designed for use in a variety of applications, the PR8E is reportedly well-suited for use as a front-end device for many hard disk recording systems, and to add additional mic pre’s to digital mixers and sound cards. Each pre-amp features its own XLR/TRS jack ‘Combo’ input connector, 48v phantom power, Phase Reversal switch and peak LED. A -20db pad is built in to the 1/4″ (6.5mm) TRS line-in jack sockets and the outputs are eight balanced 1/4″ (6.5mm) TRS output sockets. All this is housed inside a hardened steel chassis, complete with 19″ EIA rack mounting ears. Each mic-pre produces some 60dB of gain with a 23db of maximum output.
According to the company, typical applications include:
– Expansion for multichannel DAW’s.
– Improved mic performance for many existing mixing consoles.
– Direct Injection for line-level devices, such as keyboards, drum machines and effects
And key features include:
– 8 discrete microphone preamplifiers
– Ultra-Wide Dynamic Range
– Low-Noise Operating Levels
– XLR/combo Inputs, TRS Outputs
– 48V Phantom Power on Every Channel
– Phase Reverse on all Channels
The PR8E is now available at $199 MSRP.
