Charlotte, NC (February 25, 2004)--With the addition of sound designer Andrew Kay, Charlotte-based Snap5, a broadcast design division of MediaComm, has expanded to include original sound effects design and music composition. Snap5 welcomed their new hire with a Digidesign Pro Tools suite that includes Proteus sound modules and a huge bundle of plug-ins.

"Without sound, designs are flat," conceded Snap5 creative director Mike Dolan. "We brought Andrew into the mix so that he can be an integral part of the conceptual and design stages of our projects."

Kay agrees that his participation in pre-production will "better streamline the total concept-to-completion formula." Communicating the "reality of a piece often requires specifically planned audio," Kay advised, "sometimes music must be composed to make a spot completely tight and original."

From his MA in music technology and composition to his extensive resume in the performing arts and higher education, Kay is an accomplished tenor/percussionist/recording engineer who has worked in television, theatre, movies and home entertainment. Kay's compositions and designs may be heard in projects for Disney Studios, the History Channel, Sony PlayStation, and the Speed Channel.
