Sound Image Teams With dB Sound

New York (October 4, 2004)--In a surprising turn of events, Sound Image (San Marcos, CA) has acquired shares of dB Sound, Ltd. (Mount Prospect, IL). Both entities are high-profile live sound reinforcement companies; Sound Image is known for providing sound for acts like Jimmy Buffett (a 30-year client), Eric Clapton and Toby Keith, while dB Sound has handled sound chores for the Rolling Stones, AC/DC and the Allman Brothers Band, though it has leaned more towards touring theatrical productions in recent times.

Now under the banner of dB Sound Image, the Illinois company and its equipment will remain in the same facility. "With the name change, we wanted everyone to know that the strength of my company is now behind dB," stated Sound Image president Dave Shadoan. "dB has a good reputation that is worth preserving; we want dB customers to know they will get treated the way they’ve come to expect--and better."

Talks began between Shadoan and dB’s president (now CEO) Harry Witz began eight months ago; while the deal was finalized yesterday, the two companies had been sharing gear and personnel on some tours since early summer, in expectation of the deal’s completion. Witz remains majority shareholder of dB. The company’s offices in Australia, Japan, England and Germany are also part of the agreement.

"As our synergies align, the depth of our services will be much greater than either company had on its own," said Witz. "This is going to provide better services to all of our customers." Shadoan added, "We’re going to provide world-class equipment and world-class people, and we’ll work on expanding both companies’ client bases by using those shared resources."
